Väliaika
The Helsinki Guitar Duo, formed by Colombian Jose Casallas and Dutchman Rody van Gemert, brings a touch of Spanish melancholy romance and fiery passion to our winter, balanced perfectly by wistful Finnish gems. During the Romantic era, the guitar was a favorite instrument in salons, and this concert features the nobility of guitars, including La Perla, Finland’s only Torres guitar from 1882. This instrument naturally suits the music of Granados and Albéniz heard in the concert but also adapts beautifully to more modern compositions.
