The concert program takes the listener to a world of subtle tones and intimate musical encounters at the turn of the 20th century. The works were composed between1875–1927. Fauré’s elegant lyricism and Sjögren’s Nordic warmth frame Ravel’s clear and rhythmically lively expression, which also includes jazzy tones, while Netzel’s piano works offer charming moments rooted in the salon tradition.Sjögren and Netzel drew influences from French music, which can be heard in the lyricism and timbre of the works.
