LAUANTAIN TOIVOTUT

“Lauantain toivotut” is the radio’s longest-running continuously running music program. In the fall of 2025, it will be 90 years since the first broadcast. There was a time when radio was the center of the home and invited people to news, devotions, sports, listening to music and other culture. Saturday cleaning, baking and sauna bathing were organized so that not a single minute was wasted.

Mari Palo and Hannu Lehtonen interpret great favorites from different decades and read letters sent to the radio by listeners and feedback on the program. In the traditional way, they progress from light classical operetta and musical to songs and hits. Seppo Hovi tells a colorful story about each song, while the audience remembers the names and authors, perhaps even the original performers.
