Music at turning points of life

In arts – as in life – change is both cherished and resisted.  Music has very different tones at life’s turning points. Salonen, in his youthful defiance, Rautavaara and Nielsen in their middle-aged crossroads, and Bruch on his way to life’s biggest change – its end.
